Diamond Jack's Detroit riverboat tours offer many breathtaking views of the city's skyline.

A New Season For Diamond Jack’s

When Captain Bill Hoey launched Diamond Jack’s River Tours in 1991, few put their trust behind the idea of touring the Detroit River. But Mr. Hoey was determined to share his adoration for the Great Lakes by offering a family-oriented affordable way to enjoy the River during the summer. Sadly, Mr. Hoey passed away in December of 2013, but his spirit is still very much present as Diamond Jack’s has begun its tours once again, running Thursdays-Sundays, departing from both the Rivard Plaza and Wyandotte Docks. Though still early in the season, passengers have already celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and special Father’s Day parties aboard one of their three vessels.

In Diamond Jack’s 24th season, loyal passengers have seen they can still rely on the tours for beautiful views that can only be unveiled from the water. Passengers disembarking from Bishop Park have passed giant Great Lakes freighters, marinas and scattered islands, and had exclusive views of the Canadian shoreline and wetlands. Departing from the Detroit Dock, tourists have feasted their eyes on views including the Manoogian Mansion, Belle Isle, Downtown Windsor and even sailed under the Ambassador Bridge. Accompanying all tours are Diamond Jack’s knowledgeable docents, who provided spot-on narration and anecdotes while affording passengers warm sun rays paired with cool breezes.

Please purchase tickets at the dock. Boarding begins approximately 20 minutes prior to the departure time. Some cruises do sell out, so you are encouraged to arrive early. The company plans to celebrate weddings, corporate events and other private parties, in addition to their public tours throughout the remainder of the season. In this, the legacy of Captain Bill Hoey continues with each trip on the Detroit River.
